I'm not one to spend on toys. Only rewards :-) So no dolls for Joy-Anne. She will play with whatever is in the house. For example this shape-O toy is 30 years old.

fun when mama doesn't work
Joseph likes it when mama doesn't have to go to work. I know this because I have asked him (on more than one occasion) whether he likes it if I go to work, or if I stay at home. And his answer is always that I stay at home.
Last thursday evening, I asked him....
mama : Joe, mama is not working tomorrow.....would you like to go kai kai at err....megamall?
Joe : ermm.....actually....Ikea is better.
So off to Ikea we went on Friday morning. We got there at 9.30am to have the 99sen breakfast and free coffee before Joe played in the children's area.
helping me to swipe credit card for the free coffee voucherI always enjoy my conversations with Joseph during meals. But sometimes, he talks a bit too much and I've to remind him to eat....and not talk with his mouth full.

mmm....check out my 'misai'Joy-Anne is now big enough to enjoy Ikea.
We put her on one of those beds with the tunnel-like canopy and she was really happy, laughing and squealing while crawling around with Joseph. Unfortunately my camera ran out of battery. Joe had a good time pretending he was a bear in a cave.

We'll have to go back another day for more photos. It's just lovely to see how much Joseph loves his sister when they play together.

daalin's birthday
Daalin turned 32 yesterday. We had an earlier celeration with Ah Mah and Ah Kong last weekend. Ah Mah made the cake.
Joe simply enjoys blowing out the candles. He huffs and puffs (in his own words) and blows his saliva all over the cake!Yesterday, we had our own little celebration. Joe huffed and puffed again.
We got a blueberry cream cake from Baker's Cottage. It was the "Today's Special" and so after extra 20% discount, it cost only RM25.60.... cheap and good. After he huffed and puffed, Joseph helped himself to the cake. He said, "I only want the cream."

Joy-Anne also had a taste of cake....thanks to Nana!

She was very happy and opened her mouth very big to wallop more cake!

We also had our standard party food... pizza!
what a yummy mess I am!!!

dinner with Ah Ku
I was supposed to post this up earlier but forgot about it. Ah Ku and Aunty Joanne came over for dinner on Saturday night because we had friends in town.
quick call CSI....body count 2
Joe : but don't you think I'm more good looking than Ah Ku?
don't believe me ah?
And he teaches Joseph things that I don't...
Aunty Joanne is great with helping with Joy-Anne. Their names makes my mother very confused.
Joe : I also wanna hug
Joy-Anne can stand unaided for up to 5 seconds now...

Engineering Annual Dinner
I spent the evening with a bunch of engineers at Mantra Restaurant, Sunway Pyramid. It was Monash Uni's School of Enginnering Annual Dinner.
just me and my engineer
Located in Sunway Pyramid's old wing, next to the skating rink, it has a nice view of the Sunway Lagoon Theme Park and we had a glimpse of the fireworks (which was actually pretty pathetic compared to the mega fantastic one at Disney World)

Mantra is a Indian, Asian restaurant specialising in North Indian cuisine. Food was pretty good but if I had to pay full price, you wouldn't find me here.
This was what we had for RM80++ per head (free for staff, RM50 for spouse)...
Ajwaini Fish Tikka and Mushroom Combo
Palak Paneer (pureed veg - like baby food, and cottage cheese) and Aloo Gobi (vege curry)
white rice and Veg Briyani
Tandoori Murg (I think Murg means chicken)
Duck Mango Salad (more like Mango Kerabu with very few pieces of Duck)
Indian Dessert and ice-cream
Mango with Sticky Rice and santan (to clog up your arteries)
Goan Fish Curry ( I skipped this dish because it looks like what my kids produce from their rear end. Edwin says it tastes sour)
Lamb Rogan Josh (taste pretty good. The meat was juicy and tender)
Murg (chicken) MakhaniI liked the Duck Mango salad most and also the Mango Sticky Rice.
It was nice to be able to dress up and go out but I couldn't help wondering if the kids were ok all night. I think they were because I came home to find Joy-Anne asleep and Joseph was on the bed, trying to go to sleep.
I must have eaten quite a lot of Duck Mango Salad because I had to go bom the toilet before going to bed.
I think tomorrow I'll have to go easy on the stomach.....have to maintain my good looks (*cough! cough!*) mah....

playing together
It's wonderful to see Joseph and Joy-Anne playing together. I suppose when they get older, they will have their fair share of fights. But for now, Joy-Anne simply adores her brother. She gets really excited when they are together.
Sometimes, Joseph will be such an angel, generously giving his toys to Joy-Anne. At other times, he wants whatever toy Joy-Anne is holding. Then I'll tell him not to be like King George.
They like rolling and jumping on the bed. My 5-year-old mattress actually creaks now.
When he's not bossing her around, he's sometimes bullying her but in an affectionate way. It's actually quite fun to watch.
