After a slow and easy day to recover from Universal Studios, we visited Sentosa Island on our second last day in Singapore.
It's just something I wanted to do because my parents brought me here when I was a kid. And we took the cable car too.
While the cable car station in Genting Highlands would be packed during the school holidays, the one at Mount Faber in Singapore was really empty.
No queues is good news for us!
We pre-bought mydeal vouchers for Daalin and myself. The package included return cable car tickets, 2 rounds on the Segway and the luge+skyride at Sentosa. For the kids, we bought the cable car tickets on the spot. S$18 each. Kinda pricey.
The kids got free angry bird masks...love birds...? |
We could even see the dolphins at UnderwaterWorld...
Once on the tiny fun-filled island, we went for the luge first since it was right next to the cable car station. I had planned for Joseph to double with Daalin. But he wanted to go by himself. So we had to buy a ticket instead of paying the top up of S$3 for doubling.
Both boys thoroughly enjoyed the ride! Daalin enjoyed this way more than the roller coasters at Universal Studios because unlike the roller coasters, he's in control of this!!!
Joy wasn't feeling too good because she had a fever the day before so she wasn't quite interested in the luge. Joseph went a second round this time doubling with me.
I really enjoyed it too. It's a really cool ride and it's true...one time is not enough. But it's just too expensive with our weak RM against the Singapore Dollar.
The skyride back up the hill was also way cool!
I gave Joy some paracetamol to bring down the fever while she drank lots and lots of water. We then made our way down a few escalators towards the monorail station and then took the monorail to the Beach Station.
Transportation on the island (monorail, bus, trams) is complimentary.
By the time we got to the Beach Station, it started to rain. We took shelter inside McDonalds to have lunch while waiting for the rain to stop.
It did stop just long enough for Daaling and the children to have some fun on the Segway.
After the ride, Joy told me she wants a segway for her 5th birthday!!! Now if only she knew that it costs as much as a Proton Iswara!!!It rained and rained after that. We took the tram out to the beach just to look see but there really wasn't much we could do.
By then the kids were rather tired so we made our way back to the Cable Car Station and back to Mount Faber where we redeemed our complimentary drinks that came in souvenir Angry Birds-themed cups.
In spite of the weather, it was a lovely day out with many new experiences and lovely memories for us as a family.
We departed Singapore the next day. It was a very very good holiday - time well-spent with the family making priceless memories.
